Do not eat, taste, or handle any wild plant, berry, or mushroom based on this app. A wrong ID can cause serious illness or death.

Treat every result as a starting point. Confirm with a qualified expert or an authoritative field guide before consuming or handling anything wild.

🌿 What gets logged when you scan

Each scan records the find to a shared community database:

Species, rarity, kingdom, and date
Province, and approximate (neighbourhood-level) location for non-sensitive species — never your exact spot
Protected or at-risk species are logged at province level only — never precise
Other Logi-Dex users can see what was found and the approximate area — never your name, your code, or an exact location

Don't scan anything in a location you'd rather not share.

This data powers the community map and is used to operate and improve Logi-Dex.

Access Code

Clears your saved access code and brings back the entry box on the Scanner so you can type a new one. Use this if a code was mistyped or needs changing.

Asks the browser to protect your saved finds from being cleared. Without it, iOS can evict your collection after a long gap.

Backup & Restore

Export your collection after each session to protect your data. Import to restore from a previous backup.

Image Compression

Compresses existing full-size images one at a time directly in storage. Required before export works on large collections. Safe to run multiple times — already-compressed images are skipped.

Location Audit

Scans your collection for entries with location problems: finds stamped at the old Calgary fallback coordinate (wrong data from before the GPS fix), and finds with no location at all. Read-only — this only reports, it never changes any data.

Re-tag Locations

Correct the location of any finds. Pick entries by date group or select them manually, filter to narrow the list (e.g. only ones outside Canada), type a place, preview what it resolves to, then apply. Only the entries you select are changed.

Sync to Community Map

Re-sends every find in your collection to the shared map database. Safe to run anytime — the server keeps one record per find, so repeats simply refresh it. Use this if finds were logged offline or you suspect some never synced.

Offline Map Cache

Pre-loads detailed map tiles for Alberta & BC so the map works in the field without signal. Zooms 5–8 cache automatically on install (~7 MB). Tap below to also cache zoom 9 for finer regional detail (~19 MB). Do this on Wi-Fi before heading out.

Training Data Export

Export verified specimens as a Vertex AI-compatible JSONL file for model fine-tuning. Only confirmed or corrected entries are included — unverified and unknown entries are skipped.

Retroactive Rescan

Import a previous backup and re-identify every entry with the current model. Confirmed and corrected entries are preserved as-is. Entries without images are kept unchanged.

⚖ Discovery Rights

All observations you record through Logi-Dex belong to you. Finds you log are sent to Logi-Dex's shared database to power the community map and improve the app, as described when you first opened it — other users can see what was found and its approximate area, never your identity or an exact spot. Protected species are stored at province level only, never with precise location. Your photos stay on your device. If you document a species of scientific significance, report it to the appropriate authority on your own terms.
